Review: Clockwork Angel

Clockwork Angel Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn't think I would like this, because I have tried to get through a couple of the books in the Mortal Instruments series and I really haven't enjoyed them (Sorry! I know a ton of people who love them!). However, I was very surprised to find that this one was much more enjoyable than I expected. Maybe it is because I prefer historical fiction, maybe it is because the writing really was better, or maybe it was the lack of incest that appealed to me (I know Clary and Jace aren't really brother/sister, but it still totally weirded me out in the other series), but I flew through this one. I did feel like I was missing some of the nods to future characters/happenings, but I enjoyed it all the same. I plan to read the next two in this series, and then I'll consider going back and trying the Mortal Instruments one more time. Perhaps I'd like it better knowing the connections to the characters in this series.

I liked Tessa's character, as well as Will, Charlotte, Jem, and all the others. The plot was interesting and fast-paced. It did feel like it was just setting up the world for future books, but that was ok with me because I didn't remember the world very well from the previous series. I wanted to go out and get the next one in the series right away! I think I might this weekend actually. I'm so glad I can get into this world because I know so many people that are obsessed and I want to be able to be in on it too. This really was a great read. Can't wait to read more in the series!

Review: March: Book One

March: Book One March: Book One by John Lewis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I don't usually read graphic novels(although this is the 2nd I've read this month), but this was very good! I plan to read the next two in the series as soon as possible!

Review: A Gathering of Shadows

A Gathering of Shadows A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars. V.E. Schwab is an excellent writer. Her characters and world building are some of the best I've read. I haven't had a lot of time lately to write full reviews (I'm hoping to come back through and write more later if I can), but know that this series is one of my favorites and I can't wait to read the 3rd book now!!

Review: Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm by Kate Douglas Wiggin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was very similar to Anne of Green Gables (surprisingly so), although I liked the Anne series a bit better. I know Anne was written after Rebecca and was clearly influenced by it, but I just think the Anne series is better written. I enjoyed this story though also and I was glad I read it. :)
